We focus on innovative use of mathematics and numerical methods in IT-applications and offer leading expertise in geometry, optimization, simulation, and visualization methods. Our funding is through contracts with industry, the public sector, the European Union, and the Research Council of Norway.

Isogeometric representation and analysis

  • Consistent quality of CAD and FEM
  • Integration of design and analysis
  • Simplify optimization and use of higher order FEM elements.

Heterogeneous computing

  • Growth in CPU frequency is replaced by multi-core processors
  • Exploit multi-core CPUs and data stream processors (GPU, CELL BE)
  • Investigate algorithmic approaches and  "science fiction-like" applications 
  • Desktop high performance computing

 

Reservoir Simulation on a Geological Scale

  • Multiscale pressure solvers on real-field grids (corner-points, PEBI, etc)
  • Fast solvers for fluid transport (streamlines, nonuniform coarsening on flow-based grids, finite-volume methods with optimal ordering)

Planning the future

  • Finding optimal solutions to complex problems in industry or the public sector
