Marine

SINTEF Marine consists of MARINTEK, SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture and the Department of Marine Environmental Technology. SINTEF Marine focuses on the field of knowledge management for the future exploitation of the oceans. Our aims are to promote a reasonable degree of co-existence among various industrial interests and to encourage the creation of sustainable marine value.

SINTEF Marine:

SINTEF Marine consists of operational units that can point to long experience of performing applied research aimed at maritime and marine applications. We perform contracts for national and international industry and authorities. Our customers come from such sectors as offshore and energy, shipping, the fishing industry and aquaculture.

We provide services for operating companies, system suppliers, engineering companies, consulting and service companies and suppliers, as well as the authorities.

Our contracts include R & D and verification projects for industry, Joint Industry Projects (JIPs), EU projects and industrial and competence development projects financed by the Research Council of Norway.

Typical contracts might be verifications of solutions for the design of vessels and offshore installations, modelling the consequences of oil spills in the marine environment, efficiency and security in the fishing sector, the development of aquaculture technology, marine biology and new species, and the processing and distribution of seafoods.

Our aim is to be a company that is capable of providing answers to challenges concerning the sustainable creation of value based on all types of activity that take place in the sea.
