Smarter Together are carrying out research-, development- and improvement projects primary in the offshore industry. Our objective is safer work processes and improved efficiency. Our focus is to utilize the organization’s own, or others, human, organiza¬tional and technological resources. Our main working areas are connected to HSE and Integrated Operations.

In the projects, we are using a wide range of scientific and dialogue-based methods. Every project is developed and executed in close co-operation with the client, and the method is chosen based on the nature of the project. The research contents is founded and developed through publishing.

A central method is the “Smarter Together process” which has been developed by the department through several projects. The process is based on action research in which the main objective is organization development through creating common learning- and reflection processes. The research scientists and each organization’s internal “problem-owners” are involved together in the process. A basic idea is that the parties have different, but complementary knowledge and competence. By bringing different parties together we may, jointly, develop good solutions to the defined problems, which further on may be tested and considered in a cyclic process.
