DegraLex - tool for collecting knowledge of equipment degradation

MARINTEK has developed the computer based tool DegraLex in the project ‘Teknisk Tilstand’ (Technical Condition) which took place in the period 1996 - 1999. Partners in this development were Statoil (Oil&Gas), Elkem (metallurgy), Forsmark Kraftgrupp (nuclear power plant), Kværner (engineering/ maintenance contracting), MARINTEK and NTNU (university).

DegraLex contains detailed knowledge on important equipment failures and degradation, influencing factors to the failures and a guide to possible measurement methods to monitor the degradation. DegraLex is populated with hands-on knowledge and experience from the participating partners in the project.

DegraLex is highly suitable for knowledge management including training, trouble shooting, experience transfer and maintenance planning.
