Particle technology
Particle technology has a long tradition in SINTEF/NTNU history. Originally started in traditional mine and mineral industry with crushing and grinding and subsequently led to advanced techniques for production and characterisation of special products.
Large laboratories with process equipment in a pilot scale places SINTEF as an unique partner for industry when a new process or product will be tested/developed. SINTEF offers the following activities within particle technology applications:
• Laboratory testing of different materials in various equipment
• Crushing, grinding in the autogenous, rod, ball, air swept, attrition jet mill
• Configuration of various grinding circuits (wet and dry)
• Magnetic and electrostatic separation
• Flotation
• Particle characterisation (particle size and shape, density, porosity, shape, etc.)
