Technical Condition Index - the new plant performance measure

Anyone involved in operation possesses an intuitive conception of the term  technical condition.

The project Technical Ageing Management has defined Technical Condition as follows:

The technical condition, denoted TC, is defined as the degree of degradation relative to the design condition. It is a mean value aggregated by a selected set of technical, financial and statistical parameters.

A plant’s technical Condition Index can be determined with regard to safety, environment, economy (cost) or availability. A failure to e.g. a safety valve may be insignificant in terms of maintenance cost, but may have considerable impact on the safety of personell.
