Hot AC anodising
The aim of this long term ongoing activity has been to promote the use of anodising as an environmental friendly alternative to hexavalent chromium for the pre-treatment for aluminium before coating.
Objectives of the work has been to optimise the anodising pre-treatment process in terms of corrosion resistance and adhesion, to document the quality of the process and to replace chromium in industry
- Hot AC anodising techniques are found to be the only Cr-free pre-treatments that can compete with chromating on corrosion protection
- Hot AC anodising is implemented at Hydro Aluminium coil coating line in Holmestrand
