Fire resistance testing of constructions and construction elements
SINTEF NBL performs fire testing according to several recognised methods and standards. The test reports can be used as documentation for approval for use in buildings, on board ships and on offshore platforms. The test method which is required, depends on the intended area of application. We offer test reports in English or Norwegian language according to your wish. Please see the enclosed list of relevant test procedures in the field of fire resistance testing.
Where will test reports from SINTEF be accepted?
SINTEF NBL has achieved an accreditation as test laboratory by Norwegian Accreditation according to EN 45001. Norwegian Accreditation has signed a multilateral agreement on mutual recognition through European co-operation for Accreditation of Laboratories (EAL). This implies that test reports from our laboratory shall be recognised as valid documentation by authorities in those countries the agreement covers, provided that the test is performed according to the national prescriptions and regulations in the country of current interest. The Nordic countries have principally the same requirements to documentation for materials used in buildings. Requirements to materials for maritime use are also mainly the same for a large number of nations.
What are the costs of fire testing, and how long time is required for testing?
SINTEF NBL can offer the clients competitive prices and short delivery time. Clients will be informed about time schedules for testing and preliminary test results.
Please contact us for more information, and offer inquiry.
The report will be ready for dispatch on fairly short time after we received the complete fire test material with all necessary documentation. Normally we will be able to deliver the fire test report within 3-4 weeks after the test.
How can fire test documentation be useful?
The new Norwegian building code, was validated on July 1st 1997. According to these regulations, fire safety level has to be documented. We can offer the required documentation for different types of products and building constructions, by performing and reporting relevant fire tests, combined with expert assessments and analyses.
We can also offer ad hoc testing of special products where the customer needs documentation, but no relevant fire test method is available. After consultation with the customer, we will find a solution to how to test the product of current interest in the most relevant way according to the end use situation. Please take contact to get more information about what we can offer your company in this field.
