Hydro-thermal operation and expansion planning

Your next move is based on strategic long-term system analysis!

The Power Market Simulator is a software package for optimization and simulation of hydro thermal power systems, with some share of hydro power. It takes into account transmission constraints and hydrological differences between geographical areas or regional subsystems.

An essential result from the model, especially in deregulated markets, is the simulated market clearing or spot price for all hydrological years. Some other results are: Reservoir operation, overflow losses, energy shortages and import/export. Typically statistical series of 50 to 75 hydrological years are used.
