Projects
ELinCPM
An EU-project focusing on the building process was completed 2005. The focus was improved environmental and logistic refurbishment projects. The consortium developed an ICT project management tool, The ELinCPM, and national adapted improvement models based on a generic 5-step model.
The ICT-tool was mainly developed by the Norwegian partner Holteprosjekt Solution in close relationship with SINTEF Byggforsk, Moderne Byggfornyelse, and the partner and research institution in Spain. The Norwegian SME; Moderne Byggfornyelse was coordinator in the project.

Evaluation of the 97-revised Plan and Building Act
The department have been occupied with research and evaluation of the revised act in several years and being the main contributor to the documented experiences. The items have been in new roles and responsibilities, control and inspection, aesthetics, building defaults etc. We have also compared the plan and building acts in the Nordic countries.

Productivity in the construction industry
The project will establish best practice information for the construction industry, based on productivity measurement using the Data Enveloping Analysis (DEA). In this part of the development the focus is on Production of blocks of flats (population: 100 – 120 blocks)
Building site productivity
- Non-parametric efficiency analysis (DEA)
- Calculate efficiency number for each project and show them anonymously in a Salter diagram.
Examine statistical correlations between the efficiency scores and other variables.
To gain understanding of why the best are the best, a regression analysis can test different hypothesises (the restrictions and the control variables) against the efficiency numbers. This type of information can be very valuable for companies’ development strategies.
The results will be published in 2006.

Universal design
Universal design is the common nominator for broad research, development and information activities. The institute have ongoing works on all these three fields. Studies and state of the art documented is documented (in Norvegian) a knowledge survey.
